Olympic history was made today when India’s living legend Amitabh Bachchan became the first Olympic torch carrier from the Bollywood industry.
The streets of the London borough of Southwark were filled with thousands of fans, who cheered as the Sholay star as he took part in the relay on the eve of the Olympic opening ceremony.
Describing it as a ‘matter of great pride and honour’, Bachchan told Desi-Box that by being invited he truly felt that the UK has honoured the Indian film industry and country.
The renowned actor also has high hope for Indian teams participating at the Olympics this year sharing ‘I hope the Indian team win as many medals as possible’.
Acclaimed director Karan Johar and international star Anil Kapoor have also have said to have been invited for the London 2012 Olympic celebrations.
