Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK the directors of the highly acclaimed Shor In The City are now busy with their next venture for Illuminati Films. The buzz is that their next is a zom-com (zombie comedy), a genre hitherto unexplored in Indian cinema. Krishna DK said, "Yes…we are working on a zombie comedy for Illuminati Films. It’s tentatively titled Go Goa Gone. So far we have Kunal Khemu and Saif Ali Khan on board for the project."
Elaborating on this new genre, Krishna DK adds, "Zombie comedy as a genre is hitherto unexplored out here. We decided instead of going for a full on horror film, it makes more sense to enter into zombie territory which gives scope for comedy too along with a few chills and thrills. It’s an original script written by Raj, Seeta and myself. We’ve been toying with the idea of a horror-comedy for a while now but we were waiting for Shor to be released and now that it has, we are moving on to this project."
Considering the film is called Go Goa Gone, does Goa form the backdrop of the film? "Yes…the film is in a funny way set in Goa but it’s not just about Goa. Besides Goa, we would be shooting in Mumbai as well as a few other locations too but the backdrop is Goa as it provides a fun setting for a youth film like this," says Krishna.
Speaking about the cast, Krishna adds, "We have Kunal Khemu playing the lead while Saif too plays a central character. Saif is really passionate about this project. It’s not your conventional hero-heroine film. Here it’s the script and the characters that are more important. There are only 4-5 characters in the movie and each one of them has an equally important role."
