Bollywood megastar Salman Khan has been confirmed to produce a Canadian film about an Indian immigrant, it has been reported. ‘Dr. Cabbie’ will be the ‘Dabangg’ star’s first film co-production since the children’s comedy hot "’Chillar Party’ in 2011.
‘Dr. Cabbie’ is being directed by Jean Francois Pouliot and tells the story of an unemployed Indian doctor newly arrived in Canada, and after having been rejected by local medical schools ends up working as a cab driver. While driving the cab the young doctor becomes a local hero after he begins to treat passengers as part of a mobile clinic.
Filming began this week with ‘Speedy Singhs’ star Vinay Virmani as the lead protagonist. The rising star has also co-written and co-produced the production. Also featuring in the Canadian production is G.I. Joe: Retaliation Adrianne Palicki, and ‘The Big Bang Theory’ star Kunal Nayyar.
