2010 sees the beginning of an exciting new chapter for UK Bhangra, with the introduction of an extraordinary new talent by the name of GV. A producer, multi instrumentalist, trained in contemporary western singing and a songwriter in several languages makes GV a truly unique artist.
His eagerly anticipated debut album entitled, From The Ground Up features a superstar line up including Jaz Dhami, Master Saleem, Nirmal Sidhu, Master Rakesh, Manak e, Jaswinder Daghamia, Jati Cheed, and brand new singing sensation T-Minder.
Having already been touted as one of the best producers in UK Bhangra, this phenomenal talent is by no means a newcomer to the industry. GV has worked behind the scenes as a session musician, songwriter, ghost producer, and composer for the last 10 years.
In 2009, GV produced Jaz Dhami’s hit Gabroo. The song received rave reviews & became one of the most played bhangra songs of the year on radio stations across the UK. GV also co-composed the hit single Roj Miliye with Jaz Dhami.
GV has also toured the live circuit extensively as a keyboard player for Jaz Dhami & has been fortunate enough to perform at prestigious venues such as the Birmingham Symphony Hall and London’s Queen Elizabeth Hall along with Jaz Dhami, Juggy D, H Dhami & Bee2. GV also accompanied Jassi Sidhu on his recent Canadian tour as a sound engineer, further highlighting his vast experience in music.
Alongside touring, GV has spent the last 12 months working meticulously on his debut album From the Ground Up. The album not only showcases GVs remarkable production ability, but also his exceptional song writing side, penning infectious lyrics & compositions.
Having written and composed a large part of the album himself, From the Ground Up contains a fresh youthful sound, full of sing-along hook lines perfectly reflecting GVs vibrant UK musical upbringing. Featuring a masterful blend of both experienced and young exciting vocalists, From the Ground Up will undoubtedly establish GV as one of the most prolific new producers in the UK Bhangra industry.
