Bollywood’s timeless beauty Madhuri Dixit Nene unveiled her Madame Tussauds wax work yesterday in central London, and Desi-Box was present to witness the momentous occasion.
The Khalnayak star who was last seen on the big screen in 2007 with Yash Raj Film’s Aja Nachle, dazzled beside her life like wax figurine as she described seeing the wax work as a surreal experience. The wax work mirrored her long flowing hair as well as her renowned smile which has captured the hearts of millions on the silver screen for more than twenty years.
The Dil Toh Pagal Hai actress said when she was approached for the wax work she was very excited, honoured and humbled. “I think this is the place you get recognised when you’ve worked all your life.”
Sharing her delight with the wax work the Devdas star told Desi-Box “I think my fans are going to be very happy because they are the ones who made it happen, so I have to thank them.”
Madhuri who attended the unveiling alongside her family, thought it was very important that Indian cinema is being represented at Madame Tussauds by the fact that the film industry has become so big and the world has become a smaller place.
The figurine which was draped in an intricate pink Manish Malhotra designed saree, was commissioned after the wax work attraction was inundated with request from fans to have her join their Bollywood exhibition. The £150,000 statuette took over four months to create and Madhuri is now the 6th Bollywood celebrity to be immortalised. She joins wax models of Hrithik Roshan, Salman Khan and Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan and former Miss World Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.
Madhuri; who has two children and is married to Dr Shriram Madhav Nene, resided in the United States before moving back to India with her family in late December last year. She will return to the small screen in May as the judge on the dance reality show, Jhalak Dikkhlaa Jaa 5.
Desi-Box is sure that we will be seeing more of the Beta actress gracing our Bollywood screens in the coming years.
