HeycH & Pav, the duo which make 241 chose Sun Goes Down as the first single to highlight their background as professional dancers and performers.
The tracks fusion of hip hop and dance music creates a fast paced rhythm that is sure to seduce you onto the dance floor.
“Coming from a dance background we feel that the song is only one part of the journey. How that song is then translated in the studio and more importantly on stage is what really allows the listener to become a part of that story ” explain HeycH and Pav.
The music video shot by Ballistic Productions (Jags Klimax – Heer, DJ H & Rags – Jawani), reinforces 241s vision that performance and lyric go hand in hand as the video is enriched with many choreographed sequences with a climatic rain sequence never before witnessed in an Asian music video. The video was shot with Red One technology as seen on the hit series 24 and was also used by Peter Jackson on Lord Of The Rings.
The single as well as the video will be debuting very soon and will be availabile for download from iTunes and all other major digital download distrubutors.
Jas Kaur from the Desi-Box.com Team had the privilege tointerview 241.Check out the interview below!
01. Jas DB: Hey guys, so lets start off by finding out the meaning of 241, 2 Minds 4 1 Dream, what influenced you to think of such a creative name, just numbers with a meaning 241?
241: The name represents us and what we are trying to achieve, we are 2 minds living 4 1 dream.
The duo has called their style “Rhythm ‘n’ Bhangra,” something that can be heard distinctly in the music, the lyrics, and the dance moves these guys have.
02. Jas DB: You have coined the new trend “Rhythm ‘n’ Bhangra” there are many artists that use R’N’B style mixed with Bhangra, what do you feel sets you apart from the rest?
241: Firstly everything we have done has been off our own back, it’s been a very hard journey, but now we feel the foundation is set, we have been very patient in making our moves, a lot of artists rush into things, but we want to be here for a long time and not just for a quick 5 minutes of fame. You need to watch out for the performance side of 241, our aim is to entertain our fans, when you see the video you will understand what level we’re working towards.
03. Jas DB: You have the Rhythm part down with your wicked dance moves and dancehall tunes, how will you be incorporating the Bhangra?
241: The bhangra is something we want to stay tight lipped about for now, as there’s a lot of things happening behind the scenes, but trust us when 241 goes desi side it’s going to be BIG.
04. Jas DB: Pav and HeycH, what has influenced you to push so hard and break musical boundaries that really have not been touched by any other Asian musicians?
241: We felt there was a gap in the market a long time ago, and luckily for us that gap is still there, a lot of artists stay in their comfort zone, but we aim to change that by our performance skills and fresh tunes.
After a chance meeting with Jazzy B, HeycH received the push he needed to pursue his love for music.
05. Jas DB: How was it like meeting the legendary Jazzy B and receiving advise HeycH?
241: I didn’t actually receive advice, I went to a family wedding where JB was performing, he had just dropped folk n funky. I was a big fan and danced all the way through and at the interval, I went to take a picture n get his autograph, that’s when he said you’re a really good dancer, and I should join him on stage, I did just that and sang a few ad-libs when he put the mic to my face, I knew then at the age of 8, music was for me.
06. Jas DB: What did you tell Pav to push him along as well?
241: Well I met Pav in our 1st year of high school, I told him I was a dancer, he didn’t believe me at the time lol but after a few vhs tapes and dance lessons at lunchtimes on the football pitches, I knew he had the same spark as me, I didn’t say much to push him along because we both wanted the same thing, and that is to make our mark in this world.
07. Jas DB: They say patience is a virtue, we see that in your duo as you’ve been in the game a long time, where is the motivation coming from? What truly motivates you two?
241: Our friends and family, who pick us up when we are at the lowest, making good quality music and new fresh melodies, above all it has to be negative energy that people throw our way as it gives us the drive to succeed.
Jai Amore, a lyricist and vocalist, who closely worked with the 241 boys on the single, wrote the single “Sun goes Down”.
08. Jas DB: Has 241 personally written any tracks that may show up on the album? If so, what is it that inspires your lyrics?
241: Most of the album is written by us, Jai Amore wrote ‘sun goes down’ and when we heard it, we knew this song had to be ours. Inspiration comes from everyday life experiences, from partying to losing someone special.
09. Jas DB: We hear that you two have some hardcore producers producing your songs, how did you meet female producer Kiran Zamman, and Tigerstyle?
241: We met Kiran through our manager Azadvir Singh, he was working with her when we first got into the studio, he played us a few of her beats which we liked and the hook up was made. With Tigerstyle we sent them our material to get the ball rolling, they had a listen and was impressed with our style, big up to Raj and Pops for giving us the opportunity to work together, we hope to do it again for future projects.
10. Jas DB: Are there any collaborations with other singers on the album that we can expect?
241: That would be telling, there’s a lot of things coming your way put it that way!
11. Jas DB: Finally, if you could tell your fans one thing, just one thing, what would you tell them?
241: Don’t download illegally lol! Keep supporting and showing us your love, and join us on our journey as it’s just as much your journey as it is ours! one love 241
