Bhangra singer Malkit Singh says he wants to greet the British queen with a boisterous chak de phatte when he meets her to receive his Member of the British Empire (MBE) medal.
Malkit Singh is the first Punjabi singer to figure in the prestigious Queen’s Honours List, which is published twice every year to honour people with a record of distinguished and long-standing service to the nation or the community.
When asked how he felt Sigh replied "I am blessed with this honour. This honour is not only to me, but it’s an honour to my entire community, moreover to my country India, and I feel like I am on the moon,"
Asked how he would approch the queen "I have no idea what I will say to her… maybe chak de phatte or balley balley,"
