Avina has been working away over the last year in preparing and recording her new debut single release that will now be playing on popular Asian Radio Stations across the UK with the official single release towards the end of October 2010 (internationally on iTunes). To hear the full song, please request it on your local Asian radio station.
In one of her interviews, this is how Avina describes the music video of Tere Bina:
The music video really shows the essence of what this song is all about. I play the role of a young woman who finally decides to walk away from a really violent and abusive relationship – with some pretty crazy scenes to portray. With such an important message to give across, we’ve put a lot of thought in trying to capture some of these emotions that women may be going through in that situation, as well as making the video entertaining to the viewers. says Avina.
Avina is launching herself into a very male dominated industry with very few Female Artists. However, her approach will be different with meaningful songs. The first single is Tere Bina it sends out a strong message on domestic violence and empowerment. It is a shocking fact that 1 in 4 women will be a victim of domestic violence in their lifetime; sometimes the consequences being fatal – on average, 2 women a week are killed by a current or former male partner. Southall Black Sisters (SBS), the organisation/charity behind the book and film Provoked are officially supporting Avina in the single release and proceedings from the single will also be donated to the charity.
