Jay Sean releases his million-selling single, ‘Down’ in the UK on 26th October. The single features America’s biggest rapper, Lil Wayne and is Jay’s debut UK release on Cash Money Records.
Hounslow-born Jay is the UK’s biggest breakthrough artist in the States this year. Since signing to American label Cash Money Records – home of Birdman, Kevin Rudolf and Lil Wayne – Jay has seen his single become the anthem of the summer. So far it has hit #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and sold over a million copies in eight weeks.
The last British male artist to hit the top ten in America was James Blunt in 2006. "Down" has also seen Jay have the biggest hit single for a British urban act in the US since Soul II Soul twenty years ago.
Now Jay Sean is set to repeat that success on these shores. ‘Down’ was playlisted by radio stations including Capital, 1Xtra, Kiss, Choice, Galaxy and the BBC Asian network before a release date was even set for the UK. It has now gone on to cement itself as a playlist favourite across all major stations including BBC Radio 1.
‘Down’ which is co-written between Jay and Orange Factory Music, is a sexy club anthem made for the clubs.
"I’m a very positive, optimistic person and thought let me write a song about the idea that if you’ve got someone special in your life then nothing else really matters, how you need to appreciate the little things," explains Jay.
‘Down’ is taken from Jay’s forthcoming album ‘All Or Nothing’ which will be released in the UK on November 23rd through Jayded Records. The album will include Jay’s UK hit singles ‘Ride It’, ‘Maybe’, ‘Stay’ as well as collaborations with major names from both sides of the Atlantic.
