Fans of the upcoming Bollywood detective thriller film Bobby Jasoos have been feasting on the array of colourful and exuberant characters featured in the eagerly anticipated film.
The Reliance Entertainment starrer, which releases on 4th July 2014 and is headlined by the multi-award winning actress Vidya Balan (The Dirty Picture, Parineeta) who plays the strong, female protagonist ‘Bobby’, also features a host of supporting madcap characters.
Amongst them is ‘Noor’ (Benaf Dadachanji), the super responsible and uptight sister of Bobby; ‘Kausar Khala’ (Tanvi Azmi), Bobby’s aunty and a fiercely independent feminist, who hones Bobby’s detective skills through her matchmaking business; ‘Shetty’ (Prasad Barve), a member of Bobby’s crime-solving posse and her best friend. Shetty is a fashion freak with a passion for the delectable Salman Khan. Finally, we have ‘Tassawur Shaikh’ (Ali Fazal, Three Idiots), who is a lost soul desperately trying to break away from the confines of his restrictive family in a bid to have some normality in his life.
Bobby Jasoos is a gripping film that sets a new benchmark for the thriller genre in Indian cinema and examines in a clever, witty and fresh way the dynamics of the gender struggle between women and men. The film celebrates the aspiration of ‘Bobby’ (Vidya Balan – The Dirty Picture, Parineeta), who wants to become the number one detective in the old city area of Hyderabad. What ensues is a classic thriller caper that serves up a tantalising mix of twists and turns, as the vivacious and engaging ‘Bobby’ solves a series of mind-boggling crime cases.
The film is directed by Samar Shaikh, whose impressive cache of work includes being the assistant director on the worldwide hit franchise Dhoom, andisco-produced by Bollywood actress Dia Mirza and Sahil Sangha under their production banner Born Free Entertainment and Reliance Entertainment.
