Desi-Box caught up withBilal a 19 year old Singer/Rapper from London, Bilal is set to release his debut single ‘Scream Out Loud’ featuring Raxstar and produced by Quantize Music.
DB: Hi Bilal, for those who haven’t heard of you before please let them know who you are?
Bilal: I’m a 19-year-old singer songwriter/rapper from London. I hit a million views and counting on my promo video ‘Can’t Live Alone’, which I released last year. Since then I’ve been working on my debut single featuring Raxstar and produced by a production group called Quantize.
DB: Your debut single ‘Scream Out Loud’ is out on the 9th April. What can we expect from it and what do you hope to achieve?
Bilal: You can expect an upbeat, pumping song that’s guaranteed to get you into the summer vibe. I’m hoping that it takes me to the next step in my music career. If I can gain the same support if not better of ‘Can’t Live Alone’ that would be great, the feedback I got from that was amazing.
DB: What is it like to be managed by Khalid Khan, the same person who manages Raxstar, is there a certain level you feel that you need to achieve?
Bilal:Raxstar is a very respected character, in the Asian scene especially. I personally see him as one of the great lyricists in our scene. So yes there is a certain level I feel I must work to. My manager Khalid and Raxstar have both been there helping me along the way allowing me to raise my own bar.
DB: What’s your favourite track at the moment?
Bilal: My favourite track has got to be “Wicked Games” by The Weeknd. It’s just one of them ones I can sit back and jam to when life’s stress is getting too much.
DB: When did you first realise that you wanted to become a recording artist
Bilal:Music has been a part of my life from a very young age, always singing along to tracks I liked. I attended a performing arts school where I think my love for making my own music became apparent. Getting my raw emotion and feelings out on a pen and pad really helped me get through a lot of obstacles while growing up. It was a way of letting the steam off.
DB: Describe yourself in 3 words?
Bilal: Fun, Fun and Fun!
DB: Are you currently collaborating with any artists?
Bilal: Right now I’m working very closely with Raxstar, Arjun and a production group called Quantize.
DB: What are your future plans now in terms of music releases for 2012? Anything exciting for the fans?
Bilal: I’m just currently wrapping up loads of songs for my album. I hope to release at least another 2 singles this year as well as a mixtape featuring some of the hottest talent around.
DB: Thank you for taking out the time for this interview. Do you have any final words for your fans?
Bilal: Just want to say a huge thank you to my fans. Without them I would not be here today, their support is what has gained me the recognition I have. So thank you so much!! … peace!!
