‘Ill Manors’, ‘My Brother the Devil’ and ‘The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel’ have all been nominated in categories for the 15th annual Moët British Independent Film Awards (BIFA). The prestigious ceremony which recognizes the best in British independent cinema over the past year, will talk place on Sunday 9th December.
Sleeper hit ‘The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel’ which stars an array of acclaimed British talent alongside Dev Patel and Bollywood actress Tena Desae has been nominated in 5 categories including Best Independent British Film and Best Director. The gritty urban tale of ‘Ill Manors’ has three nominations which includes best actor for ‘Four Lions’ star Riz Ahmed and Best Debut Director for the Ben Drew (Plan B).
The hard-hitting Sundance favourite ‘My Brother the Devil’, has also been nominated in 2 categories. Director Sally El-Hosaini who took the award for Best Newcomer award at the London Film Festival is nominated for the Best Debut Director at BIFA, and Everywhere and Nowhere star and the films’ lead James Floyd, being nominated for Best Newcomer. The gripping drama which revolves around two Egyptian brothers, who are caught between traditional values and a life of crime in suburban East London is releasing in cinemas this Friday 9th November.
