It’s not very often that you get to hear a song that effortlessly fuses together the musical influences of two cultures. Well that has been until now….
When internationally acclaimed singer, songwriter and music producer Ramzi came up with the ingenious idea to produce an r&b track with an Arabic and Punjabi twist he had no idea that this would manifest into a song that would have people jumping up from their seats and nodding their heads in disbelief.
Enter Gurinder Segal. From the moment this Punjabi vocal powerhouse walked into the studio there was an instant musical chemistry. Immediately noticing Gurinder’s immense vocal abilities and star like quality, Ramzi knew that the pair were on their way to creating yet another hugely successful r&b fusion track following the overnight success of Ramzi‘s 2009 production "Love Is Blind" a Hindi/Arabic r&b track that took both radio stations and TV screens worldwide by storm.
Starting off by producing an urban beat layered with a dhol sample, Gurinder belted out the infectious hook that would mark the beginning of ‘Smile’ a song that talks about love in two languages but ultimately speaks to the listener in one…and that is without a doubt the language of great music!
